Baseline — Code of Conduct

Baseline is played in real streets, parks and squares, next to people who are not playing. These rules keep it safe and fair for players and for everyone around them. They are part of the Terms of Service. Breaking them can get your messages hidden, your chat muted, or your account suspended or closed.

1. Stay safe and within the law

• Watch where you are going. Look up from the screen at crossings, near traffic, on stairs and near water.
• Never play while driving or riding anything that needs your attention. Let a passenger play, or stop somewhere safe.
• Stay on public ground. A node on the map does not give you permission to be there. Do not climb fences, enter private property, closed areas, railway tracks or construction sites, and leave when you are asked to.
• Respect opening hours, closures and local rules, and the people who live and work near nodes. Keep noise down at night.
• Look after yourself: dress for the weather, keep your phone charged, and tell someone where you are going if you play alone at night or somewhere remote.

2. Respect other people

• No harassment, bullying, threats or hate. Nothing that attacks people for who they are: ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or appearance.
• No sexual content, and nothing sexual towards anyone who is or may be under 18.
• Rivalry stays in the game. Axiom and Drift compete for the map, not against each other's well-being. Taking down someone's Relays is play; following them, waiting for them at a node or insulting them is not.
• Never meet a player in person just because the game put you near them, and do not ask anyone for their address, school, workplace or photos.

3. Protect privacy

• Do not share anyone's personal information: real name, address, phone number, photos, workplace, school, or where they live or usually play, without their clear permission.
• Do not track or follow people in the game or in real life, and do not use the game to find out where someone is.
• Do not photograph or film people near a node without their permission, and do not post such pictures in chat.

4. Play fair

• One account per person, and it is yours alone. Do not share, lend, sell or buy accounts, and do not play someone else's account.
• Your real position only. No location spoofing, fake-GPS apps, emulators or anything else that makes the game think you are somewhere you are not.
• The official app only. No modified clients, bots, scripts or automation, and nothing that reads or changes the game's traffic.
• Report bugs, do not use them. If something gives you items, experience or an advantage the game clearly did not mean to give, report it with the in-game bug report and stop using it.
• No selling items, accounts or in-game services for money or anything else of value.

5. Keep names and chat clean

• Callsigns must not be offensive, sexual or hateful, must not contain someone's real name or contact details, and must not pretend to be another player or the Baseline team.
• No spam, advertising, scams or links to anything that tries to sell, phish or collect personal data.
• Nothing illegal in chat or names: no threats, no content that breaks the law of Finland or of the country you are in, and nothing that promotes crime or self-harm.

6. Respect places

• Some places need quiet: cemeteries, memorials, places of worship, hospitals, schools and playgrounds. Play there, if at all, without disturbing anyone.
• Report a node that should not exist — on private land, in a dangerous spot, at a home or a sensitive place — by holding its name in the game and choosing Report. People who do not play can use the removal request page.

What happens when rules are broken

Reports from players are read by a person. Depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before, we may:

• send you a warning;
• hide a message, or reset a callsign;
• mute you in chat for a while;
• sign you out of every device;
• suspend your account, or close it for good.

Serious cases — threats of violence, sexual content involving minors, stalking — can lead straight to closing the account, and may be reported to the police.

When we act against your account or your content, we tell you which rule it broke and what we did, in a message from Administrator in the game. If you think we got it wrong, email info@baselinegame.net within six months, with your callsign, and a different person than the one who made the decision will look at it whenever that is possible.

Report something

• In the game: open a chat message and choose Report; hold a node's name for node reports.
• Without the game: use the removal request page for a place, or email info@baselinegame.net for anything else.

Reporting in bad faith — to get a rival punished — breaks rule 2 itself.
